Guides
Technical CenterFrequently asked questions
What is the difference between wood paint and lacquer?
Paint (a pigmented lacquer) covers the wood and gives it colour; a clear lacquer forms a transparent protective film and keeps the grain visible. If you want the grain to show but the colour to change, apply a stain first and a clear coat on top.
Which system do you recommend for kitchen cabinets?
Because of heavy use, moisture and frequent cleaning, two-component polyurethane systems are usually preferred. Where low odour matters, water-based PU systems are also a good choice.
Can I use an interior lacquer outdoors?
We do not recommend it. Exterior products are formulated to stay flexible and UV-protective while the sun works on them and the wood swells and shrinks with moisture; an interior lacquer can crack and peel under these conditions.
Is water-based lacquer as durable as solvent-based?
Modern water-based PU systems offer high durability on interior furniture with far less odour. On surfaces with very heavy wear and chemical contact, two-component systems still lead.
Can I get wholesale and dealer prices?
Yes. We prepare quantity-based quotes for workshops, furniture manufacturers and dealers.
