Guides
Technical CenterFrequently asked questions
Where do I find my car’s paint code?
The paint code is usually on the manufacturer’s label on the driver’s door pillar, under the bonnet or in the boot. Its position depends on the make and model; if you cannot find it, send us the make, model and year.
What is the difference between waterborne and solvent‑borne basecoat?
In waterborne basecoats water replaces most of the solvent, so solvent emissions are lower; they have become the standard in many markets. Solvent-borne systems offer flexibility under different booth and drying conditions.
What is the difference between Duxone and Challenger?
Both are Axalta brands. Duxone is for body shops that want an easy-to-use, value-focused range; Challenger is a compact, economical system. We can choose the right one for your shop together.
Why do colour differences appear in spot repairs?
The same paint code can have several production shades (variants), and paint changes in the sun over time. That is why the formula is chosen by variant, a spray-out card is made when needed and the colour is blended into the adjacent panel.
